Balloon in the Sky

Mock cover to book.

This is a side project  me and my friend Ross are collaborating together on.
We're going to make a children's book or try to at least.
I'm pretty excited about it, we're going to get it printed and bound, what have you.
Then eh.. sell it for a ridiculous amount of money.
Just one though.

Damn fiddle

I just bought a graphics tablet for my design and art, burned me 250 quid. I wish I hadn't though, I have a burning desire to play the violin. I've been lying in bed thinking about it for hours haha. I wish I'd bought a violin. A decent one cost at least 300 someone told me. Bummer. I played percussion for years and stopped, I played guitar and quit. Then I had a piano phase. Then another guitar phase. They didn't work for me, I desperately want to play fiddle now. I do think I'd stick to it.

This little girl is amazing.

Vuillard

Edouard Vuillard
hung in le Grand Teddy, restaurant in Paris.

I'm watching about it on BBC right now. A half hour documentary about very bored middle aged people worrying about whether its fake or real, chasing arbitrary history not art, over money. Who cares.

Parrot in hoody

I did this tonight. Those times in your life when your just like,
fuck it, yeah I'll paint a parrot in a hoody.

Its true, looking once at these you wouldn't know how amazing these are. London based photographer Chino Otsuka masterfully edits images of her present self so that she is standing behind herself from the past. The time travelling photographer. Or as we say where I come from, lethal at photoshop.

my friend ross showed me this.

Hackschooling

"Logan Laplante is a 13 year-old boy who was taken out of the education system to be home schooled instead. Not only was he home schooled, but Logan had the ability to tailor his education to his interests and also his style of learning, something traditional education does not offer.."

Form3

This is a first peek at Form3 (Form cubed)
The Gallery installtion Me, Robbie and the other Platform volunteers are producing.
Robbie did that sign and I did the gallery mock up below.

The Idea is that every artist in the collective has one of these boxes and you have to interact with them in some way to appreciate the art (or lack of) inside. It's a very democratic way of presenting a collective we thought.

Its very small and you have to ignore the furniture and stuff. That won't be there.

Knowing when to stop.

Two o four teen

I've been sorta waiting to have something to say of substance for the first real post of the year. Apparently though I don't have anything particularly interesting or relevant to say at the minute or maybe I do I don't know. I can't really sleep so that's why I'm writing this.

Well I got home there and finally finished my book (I tend to read about ten at a time and never finish any), the book is 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' by Harper Lee. I picked it up for my project. The ending really was one of the most exquisite things I've ever read. Especially the part halfway through the third last page (the whole walking around in someone else's shoes part). I may or may not have nearly cried... I'm sure most of you have all read it but I thought I would say because it's actually really close to the core of this blog. Blah blah blah, new favourite book.

Trying to think of something else half relevant.

Yeah, this is more february than now but anyway. Me and Robbie Nolan have been volunteering for Platform Arts in Belfast for the the past few months now. But for a while now some of the volunteers including us have been organising our own gallery space. So it's going to be my first real installation thing, how exciting. I mean like it's in a tiny room compared to the upstairs gallery. But its a good start. Also the other volunteers are crazy-amazing and we get work with them. We have a meeting tomorrow actually, so I should sleep.

Also the creative company I'm with in journeyfor, recently took me to Malta for the christmas do. Malta. It was amazing. We didn't do anything creative there so.. Except my boss Tim took a lot of pictures, he might publish a book with the amount he took ( plus they're quite good, quite), though that's another post. But the point is, be creative and you get to go to Malta.

May the year bring many more experiences.
